2010 Aston Martin DB9
This is one of the first MY2011 DB9s, which is also one of the rarest of all DB9 variants as they made relatively few before the model received a major update for 2013. This is also a rare find, given that so many DB9s were ordered in one of numerous Silver variants.
The Car
Ordered new by Aston Martin main dealer Murray Motor Company of Edinburgh and delivered in September 2010, this stock car was ordered in Onyx Black with an Obsidian Black leather interior with Piano Black veneers. Options include silver calipers, an alarm upgrade, 700W premium audio, front parking sensors and 10 spoke diamond turned alloy wheels. For a car of this size and capability, the boot space is quite sizeable and allows for more than just an overnight case.
It is rare to see a non-Silver DB9 and this car presents in very good condition with only 25,947 miles covered. There is some light wear on the driver’s seat offside bolster and a small amount of corrosion beginning to bubble on the passenger door handle and this is reflected in the price.
Its History
This DB9 has been serviced at Aston Martin main dealers Grange of Essex and HR Owen of Reading up until very recently, where all servicing has since been undertaken by marque specialists Chicane in Hampshire.
On the Road
This DB9 is very assured and soaks up the miles with ease. Fire up the 6 litre V12 with the glass key and the result is a sublime exhaust note, not tame nor overt, but with a strong audible presence to alert you to something special when required. The MY2011 DB9s have the DBS’s adaptive damping system which can transform its ride and roadholding, once previously reserved for sport pack upgrade cars.
The driver sits quite low and the car surrounds you which is quite a departure from the previous Aston Martins, but you feel protected and the sports seats are very supportive. Steering is not heavy, nor is it over light and the turn-in is very poised, though be careful going around roundabouts, as too much throttle can catch you out. Brakes are strong and steady, but they won’t throw you through the windscreen either.
DB9s are ideal for long distance, relaxed motoring and it is all done with great style. But with the 470bhp V12, the adaptive damping system selected and the open road in front of you, this makes for a very serious car indeed.
Conclusion
The MY2011 and MY2012 DB9s are amongst the rarest as they didn’t make that many of them, so this is a great opportunity to buy a great British icon – and one that’s not in Silver too. This Aston Martin DB9 is now available for viewing and demonstration by appointment at our Hampshire facility and will come with 12 months MOT and a year’s warranty.
